Congratulations to Mr. Rob and his Slipstream Starlings squadron on their 2007 DCBA Championship.
Showing a cat-like sense of balance, the Starlings offset a disappointing year from keeper shortstop Miguel Tejada and an inconsistent season from 1st round pick Jeremy Bonderman with standout seasons from Matt Holliday and Josh Beckett. This impressive management enabled the Starlings to field a high-octane lineup that was able to accomplish a league-high 4 top performances during the regular season - and then carry on with 2 more in the playoffs.
Hear what I said? The leaders are them.
Congratulations to Mr. Brent and The Consummate Bastards for another fine season. At 0/4 in his playoff payoff as a GM, he's still one behind Billy Beane (0/5), but has a chance to overtake John Schuerholz (1/14), or perhaps with a good run tie Branch Rickey (4/8).
I'd also like to thank Commissioner Johnston and rookie TDS Hooker for their superlative work on this here league blog, contributing to an invaluable resource of statistics, insight and commentary that no doubt contributed directly to 9 of 10 teams not winning the championship.
Finally, if anyone has an extra Cubs playoff ticket....

There's still some baseball left. Why not a consolation round.
You're right. My blog work sucked. Sue me. I deserve 8 keepers for my 0-for-playoffs.
Hey! You're cruising for a beatdown on your site. Why I oughta....
Christchurch New Zealand, how many kudos do you want, Cracksnacker? I'm not afraid of you pummeling me with your trophy. Oh yes I did.
Slow down there, Joe Jazzbo! I wasn't fishing for compliments; I was preaching to the converted. Oy.
And maybe I'll trade a draft pick for the brick. You're on notice.
You actually got the brick? I got screwed last year then as the former 2nd place team.
Da Brick is intended for the last-place team, G-Rod, but I figured that if DI wanted a hunk of stone to put on his mantle, he'd have plenty of opportunities to find a good one in Baggers.
So last place gets first pick and the brick? Doesn't quite seem fair.
You weren't weighed down enough by Vernon Wells, now you want the brick?
Fat jokes from a guy who employs Jabba Chamberlain?
Nah, not fat jokes, lack of productivity jokes.
Besides Joba, there's formerly Sabathia and presently Fielder, Cabrera and Broxton, so I definitely wouldn't be casting that first stone.
I say cast it and run. Those Terry Forster tubs of goo couldn't catch you.
hey, Vernon Wells is gonna be good next year. when he's not on my team.
If you trade me your 2nd round pick for McCann, I'll draft Vernon with that pick.
Oh, and congrats to you Rob. You won not only the championship, but a commissionership. A pyrrhic victory!
To complete that thought
"...refunds are available."
Thank you.
